From 2019, we have started using naive concept of tree plantation – ‘seed balls’. This method has its origin in Japan and in India, it is just gaining popularity.
Seed balls are the balls of soils in which seeds are inserted. In these balls, sufficient nourishment is provided so that whenever balls get moist, seeds can convert into saplings easily using the nourishment provided by environment.
This method is used for large scale forestation as it is cheap and required less labour force.
Review of success of this event is done after rainy season gets over!
This event was started from the year 2016. In the rainy season, we can witness that there are many tree plantation events are around us.
In the tree plantation event, we planted only 10-12 trees. Onus was given to survival of plants than their numbers.
Schedules were made for watering, fertilizers dosages etc. The separate log file was maintained to measure how fairly members were working according to schedule. We also used Hydrogel, which is used to increase water retention capacity of soil.
But this event had limited success due to unavailability of land in surrounding, infertility of land chosen, failed to follow proper schedule of watering etc.
